2008 will bring to the west what we think will be the greatest thing to happen to slow-pitch softball since the composite bat. AFA that started as a girls fast-pitch association in 1980 has decided to expand out into the adult slow-pitch game. Joey Markakis has agreed to head up the crew in Nevada. Joey, who was affiliated with another major association, brings with him a reputation of being a great tournament director and experience as a player, coach and umpire. Joey has said, " I think this will be the opportunity we need to revitalize slow-pitch." We are continuing the game where everyone else seems to be letting go. Over the past years other associations have thought less and less about the player and more and more about building a big business. AFA Nevada is committed to keep the player in mind when it comes to rules, prizes and the overall good of the game. We will be offering an expanded schedule this year and with rules like the courtesy runner, pitching path, and the most liberal home-run rules in the game we think you will be ready to come play. Joey hosts the annual Las Vegas Fall World Series and says he is lookikng forward to playing that tournament under AFA.
