2008 AFA Winter Nationals

Mesquite, NV. The first annual AFA Winter Nationals was held in Mesquite, Nevada, January 5th, 2008. Two divisions were represented in the Men’s Class. Teams from Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, and Arizona participated in this first AFA tournament for 2008. The Men’s Champions are pictured here to the left. In the D division, Team Elite from Utah took the honors undefeated. Elite faced teams such as Pound 4 Pound (NV), J.O. Sports (NV), New Crew (NV), Muzza (UT), Maniacs (NV) Warriors (NV), and Shockers (CA). The new D rule of 3 home runs and then 1 up was a welcomed change by all the teams. It proved for some exciting games and plenty of home runs. These teamswill all be tough to face in 2008.
In the E Division B&H with it’s mix of old timers and next generation ballers managed to double dip Goodfellows of Las Vegas to take the championship. It was great to see the likes of Lloyd, Pete, Mike, Jimmy, Al, Rommie, and Joey out there having a great time with the younger guys. Brandon from B&H had a spectacular day on the mound and was E division MVP. The next AFA tournament will be Jan. 12th at Cheyenne Complex. AFA will be the association to watch in 2008 and these teams I’m sure will be major threats.
