Uniforms
Uniforms are as important as knowing the rules and making decisive calls. If you do not present yourself in a professional manner how do you expect to be respected as a professional. The experienced umpire knows that coming to the field looking like you are a professional helps promote confidence in the players and fans minds. A neat pressed uniform and shined shoes will make a big difference. If you have an old hat buy a new one. I have traveled with and umpired myself for many years and I always took at least two or three uniforms with me out of town and made sure I had an extra uniform with me at local tournaments. We do not work at a job that we can just stop and run home and change clothes in an emergency. Though uniforms can be costly remember that throughout an entire year if you bought two or three new shirts, hats, and pants you would probably never have a problem. They are tools of the trade along with ball bag, brush, clicker and timer. You wouldn't try to be a mechanic with no tools. Below is a list of items you can buy just call and order them today.
